Teamwork and strategy in Ecuador and Curacao
22 November 2007
The Ecuador event attracted 28 participants from 13 South American countries and the workshops in Curacao drew 24 participants from 10 countries in Caribbean region.
Workshop themes
The workshops looked at the importance of teamwork, setting priorities and developing and implementing strategies. The participants devised a model session for girls and young women aged 9 to 18 including programme objectives and progressive development.
One of the four days focused on working with older Guides and Rangers and those with special needs. The Curacao groups developed a model unit for training senior level Guides and the Ecuador participants gained some practical experience by working with girls with special needs.
The Rosebuds patrol in Curacao say they think that the Educational Programme could be incorporated into their training modules: “It gave us a better understanding of how to plan our unit meeting and execute the educational programme. Putting the module step by step helped us to get a better understanding of how to use the programme as a tool to help the guiders and girls to realize their full potential.”
