Leaders in action workshop held at Our Cabaña
Seventy-two Girl Guides and Girl Scouts from 22 countries across the Western Hemisphere Region had the opportunity to enhance their leadership skills in the workshop ‘Leaders in Action II: Discover your potential’ from 10 to 16 January at Our Cabana, one of WAGGGS World Centres.
It was the second youth event for 14 to 18 year olds organized by WAGGGS Western Hemisphere Region in conjunction with Our Cabaña, which is situated in Cuernavaca, Mexico. The participants came from 22 different countries throughout the region including Bolivia, Guyana, Venezuela, Netherlands Antilles, Ecuador, El Salvador, Trinidad and Tobago and USA. They worked in bilingual patrols, participating in a range of fun and educative activities in English and Spanish. They had the opportunity to exchange ideas and perspectives and improve their leadership skills, team work and decision making abilities.
The event will also focused on important issues facing young people today, incorporating five of WAGGGS key messages on food and nutrition, prevention of adolescent pregnancy, the fight against AIDS, discovering your potential and the importance of talking about sex.
