Day 4

The final day of the workshop was empowering for participants as they were able to pull together everything they have learned in the past few days, to see that good programme delivery and using the educational programme could retain members in their association.

Participants also learned about WAGGGS’ work on advocacy. These are some of the ideas that they came up with:

 

• Seek permission to speak out at national events.
• Plan a campaign/ action plan with council members on advocacy.
• Involve the media in the coverage of activities involving women’s rights, etc.
• We are empowered because we belong to WAGGGS and we are therefore able to speak out with one voice with other women across the world.
  

One highlight of the day came when the participants were given the opportunity to present inspirational commercials for new Guiders. Through the materials presented it was evident that each and every participant was motivated by all they have learned during the workshop.

The closing ceremony was an opportunity for everyone to reflect on what was learned throughout the sessions. Participants were asked to share a word that came to mind to describe the workshop.
